Presents
Lynden Miller
at
The Conservatory Garden, Central Park
Tuesday, June 22nd
2pm – 3:30pm
APLD NY has arranged a very private tour of one of Central Park’s most beautiful spaces by the person responsible for rescuing it from decay and destruction. As Director of The Conservatory Garden, Lynden Miller began raising funds in 1982 for the restoration of the Gardens (originally designed by M. Betty Sprout and Gilmore Clarke in 1937) and still oversees its design today.
An internationally renowned public garden designer, with 27 years’ experience and an artist’s eye, Lynden Miller has changed the face of New York City’s public places by providing a connection with nature for neighborhoods, rich and poor. Her designs can been seen in public spaces all over the country including Bryant Park, The NY Botanical Gardens, Madison Square Park, Wagner Park, Stony Brook University, Columbia University, Princeton University and the US Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.
Lynden will be signing her book, Parks, Plants and People – Beautifying the Urban Landscape, winner of the 2010 AHS Book Award, at the end of the tour. As books will not be available on the day of the tour, we encourage you to purchase a copy in advance at Amazon or by clicking on this link http://books.wwnorton.com/books/Parks-Plants-and-People
